Monetization
An app can be free, or it can sell subscriptions and in-app purchases through Apple. Selling needs Apple's payment setup on your account first. The Account Holder does it on Apple's pages, and the Apple page lists it as its own track beside the free one.
Free first
A free version does not wait for the payment setup. If your bank account is not accepted or Apple is still processing your payment details, the Apple page keeps the free road moving and the money track waits.
Apple's payment setup
Apple wants three things in this order, and each has its own card:
- Your moveSign the Paid Apps Agreement. Only the Account Holder can.
- Your moveAdd a tax form. The form Apple expects depends on your tax residency and on whether you sell as an individual or as a company, and your tax residency has to match the country of your Apple Account.
- Your moveAdd a bank account in the seller's own name. The holder details must match exactly, and an Admin or Finance user who enters it needs the Account Holder's approval.
- Apple's turnApple shows the agreement as processing or verifying before it turns active, and the page waits for that.
In-app purchases and subscriptions
The kit that every app starts from includes a StoreKit 2 paywall model, so an app can offer purchases and subscriptions through Apple's own payment sheet. Your products and prices have to exist in App Store Connect and be attached to the version before Apple can review an app that sells something.
- Set up your in-app purchases: you approve the prices, and for your first purchase or subscription you press Add for Review in App Store Connect.
- Answer the digital goods questionnaire: Apple shows it to some apps that sell digital goods. The European Union answers are locked once submitted, so each answer is checked before you send it.
- Declare your trader status for the European Union, when Apple asks for it.
RevenueCat, if you want it
The Apple page has a card for it. If you choose it, the in-app purchase key goes into RevenueCat and not to us.
Scheduled
These do not exist yet. Each one names what it waits on, and none has a date.
- ScheduledA receiver of ours for Apple's server notifications about purchases and renewals.
- ScheduledA money panel with the sales and payouts of your app.
- ScheduledAds, attribution and a proof step that a test install arrived.
